It wasnt looking good...but we are probably just nervous..this is our first baby! Lady was working so hard, she was lathered in sweat and completely exhausted. I tried to help her by pulling the foal with her contractions..I pulled with all my might but baby wasnt going to move. Soon Ladys contactions began to subside, the timing further and further apart...and before long Lady seemed to pretty much give up. We knew the foal had its front elbows up and that was blocking a smoother passage....but we couldnt push it in to straighten things better and I was certainly not having any luck pulling the baby out. Time was of the essence - Lady and Baby didnt have much time left. The vet was still a good 45 minutes away. I could see the foals tongue had turned quite purple. I was very worried we would lose them both. So Brian and Ron each gabbed a leg and pulled with all their might. FINALLY the baby was born! Back | Home | Next |
